Badly Behaved for Women’s History Month 2014

Anna Gallagher, Publicity Assistant at Seal Press, invited Seal authors to send in a short video talking about our favorite feminist quote.

Anna will compile these into one video in honor of Women’s History Month, and we’ll share it widely as soon as it’s ready.

I knew right away which quote I’d choose, and I had a ton of fun making my video!
Here’s something you may not know about me: I don’t wait very well. In fact, my motto used to be, “The only problem with instant gratification is that it takes too long.” Clearly I couldn’t wait to share my video with you. Anna said I could go for it — so here it is:

Adventures with Passionate U/ Kink Academy

“I own the sex-education websites PassionateU.com and KinkAcademy.com,” began the email from Kali, “and I would love to feature you as an educator with a focus on sex & aging.” Kali went on to explain that she and her crew were coming to San Francisco to film several sex educators, and she hoped I would agree to a two- to three-hour video shoot.

I was nervous about the photo shoot. I’m very comfortable talking for a few hours about the different sexual challenges that face us as we age and offering the solutions I’ve learned from the experts in Naked at Our Age–but would my respectful style be right for this edgy, explicit site?

It turns out we were a perfect match. Kali and her videographer, Gray, made me feel comfortable right away and were so enthusiastic about my work that I felt like Queen of the World. Three hours flew by as I discussed topics such as lack of desire, unreliable erections, safer sex, the importance of self-pleasuring, sex toys, and more. What is Passionate U about? As the “About Us” section explains,

How are the two sites different? Both offer grown-up sex ed through graphic video clips. Passionate U is the tamer of the two, offering topics such as how to put on a condom properly, foot fetish, breast worship, comfortable positions for cunnilingus, and cleaning a silicone dildo. But it pushes the edges of “tame” with instructional videos on vaginal fisting, cock slapping, and more. Sometimes the educators are clothed talking heads; other times they’re nude, demonstrating (often with an assistant) the techniques they’re teaching.

Kink Academy is, as the name implies, the kinky site — bondage “how-to”s, whips, caning, collars, you get the picture. If you’re into or interested in kinky sex play, here’s where you can learn all about it through graphic, instructional videos. As the site explains,

Love and Lust with Bill and Desiree

Bill and Desiree: Love is Timeless is a remarkably tender and realistic erotic documentary about senior sex from Comstock Films. Bill and Desiree are in love, and as erotic as their lovemaking are the heart-to-heart gazes they give each other, the intertwined fingers, the way Bill’s hand lightly grazes Desiree’s breast as they talk to the camera, the gentle corrections they make to each other’s stories.

She looks in her 50s, he in his 60s, and their love is fresh and tender after 3-1/2 years together. They are buoyantly, joyously, agelessly sexual together, laughing as they make love, reveling in their connection. Much of the documentary is interview — we hear how they met, where they first made love, why they love each other, and how important sex is to both of them. The commentary is interspersed with flashes of their sexual activity.

Then, done talking, they make love… for a long time. The lovemaking is clearly genuine, no “money shots” for the camera or fake screams or bouncing boobs. Instead, we see Bill give Desiree several orgasms with fingers, mouth, and toys before getting to the main course. Although we see every body part close up, we tend to focus on the love and joy in their faces (or at least I did) more than their delightfully frisky genitals.

I liked how unlike traditional porn this film is. This is an aging couple — sexy, playful, and in love. They have body hair. They use lubricant. They make eye contact. He is dashing with his salt-and-pepper hair and fit body, and the softness of his caresses matters much more than the age spots on his hands. (She looks great, too, but I confess I spent most of my time watching him.)
