Pulse Queen review: Yes, Your Rumbly Majesty!

It’s always an event when Hot Octopuss releases a new sex toy, and the Pulse Queen external vibrator is a winner! Rarely does a new sex toy charm me this thoroughly.

Why do I love the Pulse Queen?

First and foremost, I love it because it’s rumbly — deeply rumbly! — and it stays rumbly even on the highest of 9 speeds. It’s also super strong. I consider myself a power user, usually requiring the highest speed. But with the Pulse Queen, I don’t need to go past level 6 — it’s that powerful.

The experience is exquisite. The whole vulva reverberates with sensation, and I feel it deep in my body, not just surface level. The secret is the combination of rumble and oscillation, which is more intense than simple vibration. The technology is the same as the PulsePlate Technology™ in the Pulse penis toys which have delighted many a frenulum.

You can also enjoy seven patterns, some quite unusual. Sometimes I start with patterns for a tease, but when I’m ready to get serious about going to my happy place, steady pulsing gets me there. Your experience may vary, of course. Feel free to contribute your thoughts in the comments.

Ergonomic, oh yes

The Pulse Queen is also ergonomic for seniors in all the best ways:

  • Shaped for targeted clitoral stimulation and more. The “bulb” extends out for pinpointing, circling, or edging onto the clitoris; clamping between your thighs for all-over vulva stimulation; or pairing with a dildo for vaginal + clitoral delights. Explore, experiment!
  • Good for arthritic wrists. The handle is long, slim, and curved, making it easy to hold. Vibrations are only minimally transmitted though the handle.
  • Large, Raised Controls are easy to see (no need for glasses) or feel even with eyes closed.
  • Instruction booklet with large, clear diagrams illustrating everything you need to know — no words required.

Bonus points

  • Completely waterproof.
  • Made of body-safe silicone. Use with water-based lubricant only.
  • Black satin storage pouch.
  • Easy USB charging (see photo for insertion point for pin).

Not just for vulvas!

The Pulse Queen is marketed to vulva owners, but if you’re partnered with a penis owner, share the joy! As Shamus MacDuff discovered,

My partner told me of a new sex toy she wanted to try on herself. She said its name is Queen and it’s designed for vulvas so I assumed it would be for her pleasure alone. Was I ever wrong! After enjoying it on her own parts, she applied it to mine. First she ramped up the vibrations on my balls, then my shaft, and finally my frenulum. This produced pure ecstasy and a wonderful orgasm. The Queen works beautifully for penis owners too!

Purchase the Pulse Queen from Hot Octopuss — and take a look at their other fine products before you check out. Shamus MacDuff and I have  been reviewing their exceptional vibrators for penises and vulvas for years. Read our reviews (keep scrolling and click “older posts,” because there are many). They’re a terrific company, too, focused on sexual pleasure and health for all bodies.

Why don’t I review sex toys more often?

I’ve been reviewing sex toys from senior perspective for more than 14 years, and I admit I’ve become a little jaded. These days, I turn down more offers of review products than I accept. Even when I request one, a review isn’t guaranteed.  A new vibrator needs to offer an exceptional or novel experience, or I don’t want to spend your time and mine on a review. Know that if a product jumps all my hurdles and ends up with a rave review, my body, brain, and extensive experience have collaborated on that celebration!  Enjoy!

The We-Vibe wish is still available and is compact, easy to hold and very very effective.
Similar to the Pulse Queen but much smaller with great deep pulsations.

I think this one is a good vibe for my wife.

We just added this one to our repertoire as a backup for our aging Prelude and We-Vibe toys.
My wife of 63 years experimented with it before we used it during our latest weekly date.
She is very pleased….”rumbly, but not noisy, deep pulsations and easy to hold”.
Her only complaint was that you had to cycle through all the patterns to get back to her
favourite two. Her verdict….”will be a great replacement for our Prelude, when and if it dies.”
( The Prelude is 51 years old and re-wired twice ) A great addition to our pleasurable weekend dates.
Well worth the $. Thanks for recommending it Joan.

Is this stronger than the Eroscillator, which, really doesn’t work for me at all and I know you love?

Which ones are effective but quiet!!

Thank you, Joan, for telling us about this and for the review. There are SO MANY toys out there, it’s hard to know which ones are good. I prefer a rabbit-style vibrator that provides internal stimulation at the same time as clitoral stimulation, but I like that you say that this particular toy is “rumbly”. That is definitely the type of vibe that I prefer. Those high-frequency vibes will practically make my nerves lose sensitivity!

I’ve been disillusioned with the rabbit-style vibrators because I find it impossible to find one with the right proportions so that it fits well internally and hits the right spot externally. Easy solution: separate vibrator + dildo to hit all spots just right. Isn’t that why we have two hands? 😉

I agree with you that it is difficult to find a rabbit-style vibrator that fits just right. I have 4 of them, and only 1 fits just right. But 2 of the others have that deep rumbly vibration that is oh, so nice. But there’s just no way to know if it fits unless you buy one!! Very frustrating. I haven’t tried using separate devices. Yet. I’ll have to try that sometime… 😉

I recently bought the Pulse Queen and although I like its shape, size and its two most powerful settings; especially the surging one, I’ve found that when strong pressure is applied it stops working effectively. In fact, hard downward pressure on the Pulse Queen kind of mutes or stops it! I’m a senior and very much post menopausal. Drat! 🥴 I find that I need really strong rumbly pressure across the clitoral region to get a good outcome. We’ve been using a large hand held body massager for decades and while it’s super powerful, it’s really big and cumbersome. Do you know of any powerful Clittoral toys that aren’t affected by downward pressure? (The We-Vibe Touch looks interesting.) 😄

      • Joan Price on April 18, 2024 at 10:04 pm

I discovered that pressing it hard also muted the vibrations, but I also discovered that there was no need to press it hard because the vibrations were so strong at the higher settings. If you want a strong one you can press hard, the rechargeable Magic Wand will be your hero. Yes, it’s large, but you can rest it where you want it and use your hand to keep it in place, rather than holding it up. https://joanprice.com/2015/04/the-new-rechargeable-magic-wand.html

Thanks Joan. Will check it out!

My partner enjoys the We-Vibe Wish for those deep rumbly sensations and ease of use. It is easily held and not
cumbersome at all. Our recent purchase of a Pulse Queen and it’s use is somewhat similar to your experience.
The We-Vibe Melt is glorious but her favourite is our Prelude 2. Unfortunately, no longer produced, and a plug in toy. It has been rewired many times since we got it, our 1st (massager) toy back in the 70’s.

        • Sue on April 20, 2024 at 12:42 am

Thanks Dave. The We-Vibe Melt looked like a possible winner but it’s apparently been discontinued as well! Oh well….

          • Joan Price on April 20, 2024 at 9:00 pm

Melt hasn’t been discontinued. I’m still seeing it on the links from Betty’s Toy Box from this review: https://joanprice.com/2019/12/we-vibe-melt.html . But I don’t think this is the kind that Sue is asking for though — she wants to use strong pressure. The Melt and the Womanizer products use “air puff technology” — not direct vibration on the clitoris. It feels wonderful and Melt is one of my personal favorites. It’s just not exactly the kind of vibrator that Sue is describing.
